We Bought a Zoo (2011)

IMDB: "We Bought a Zoo"
This movie is one of the cutest, coziest movies I've ever seen! If you're looking for a feel-good movie for just you, your friends or your family, look no further! Matt Damon is awesome and he's no less awesome here. He's a little sweeter than he is in "The Departed" or the "Bourne" movies, but still Matt Damon! And another reason for watching this film: Scarlett Johansson!

This film is based on a true story about Benjamin Mee when he bought a zoo (hence the title). His wife died, his son is rebelling and he quits his job because his was sick of being treated with sympathy.
He wants a new start, a new story and that's when he finds a perfect home in the countryside. But it's not just a house, it's Rosemoor Wildlife Park (in real life, it's called Dartmoor Zoo). He meets the zoo-keepers and tries to get this zoo back to life, because it was shut-down two years before. So he has to make some tough decisions whilst he's trying to make his kids happy, especially his son who is does not like living there.

Focus (2015)

IMDB: "Focus"
I'm just happy Will Smith is back after being in "After Earth" which is one of the most terrible movies I've ever seen! And I'm certainly not complaining when Margot Robbie is on the big screen. That woman is breathtakingly beautiful and she can act!

Nicky (Will) is a brilliant con-artist and he meets this gorgeous woman, Jess (Margot) who turns out is trying to con him. When she finds out who he is, she desperately wants in on his "business" and a partnership is made. She is very good at what she does, but for some reason Nicky has to let her go.

After a couple of years, Nicky is "doing some business" and all off a sudden Jess shows up and throws him off his game. Will he be able to focus and get the job done? (See what I did there?)

Nicky teaching Jess how to become a perfect con-artist.

I loved the first part of this movie. It reminded me of the "Oceans" movies because of the master brains who does these smooth thefts. The other half is also good, but not as good. The good thing about this movie is that you never know how it's going to end. And I really liked the chemistry between Will and Margot.

* 6/10 *
(And I know this is under the category "Comedy", but it's not like an "ha-ha"-comedy, so don't expect to laugh your butt off from this movie. I know the risks of thinking it's a plain comedy and getting something "dramatic" instead.. It can kill the movie entirely..)

You should also check out the episode of "The Graham Norton Show" where Will and Margot is on (also Hugh Jackman and David Beckham). It's an hilarious episode, so I put it on here so you can check it out if you want to.

Big Hero 6 (2014)

IMDB: "Big Hero 6"
I saw the trailer a hundred times where I work, so much that I became sick of it. When I saw it.. it blew my mind!! I fell in love with Baymax like I did with Wall-E! And what is the coolest about it all: It's both Disney and Marvel!

Hiro (Ryan Potter - (Please, Ryan.. Have a kid and name him Harry!)
and Baymax (Scott Adsit) getting to know each other strengths.
Hiro loves to enter his robot in robot fights, because although he's young and his robot is a tiny, smiling, non-threatening little guy, Hiro is a really smart kid. Spoilers: He dominates!

His brother, Tadashi (Daniel Henney) is also pretty smart and he attends to San Fransokyo Tech where he builds and invents things and this is where we meet all his friends, but also Baymax!

Fred (T.J. Miller), Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez), Hiro,
Go Go (Jamie Chung) and Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.).
Something horrible happens so Hiro wants revenge, and somehow ends up with Baymax and they start investigating. Luckily they get some help from Tadashis friends and they all become super heroes!

I don't want to spoil anything, so I'm just going to say that if you love Disney and/or Marvel (who doesn't..) you should check out this movie! Like I said, I was sceptical when I started out, but after "5 seconds" I was all in! This movie is beautiful, funny, awesome and heartwarming!

The Skeleton Twins (2014)

IMDB: "The Skeleton Twins"
I was in the mood for a real comedy and when you see a movie with SNL legends like Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig you expect awkward and lots of laughs! It's not a "ha-ha" movie, it's more serious than funny. But it was surprisingly good.

Milo and Maggie are twins, but they drift apart for some reason and both Maggie and Milo is in a pretty dark place when we first see them and they are reunited after 10 years apart. Milo gets to live at Maggies for a while and meets her husband, Lance (Luke Wilson) and the twins are getting to know each other again and all their secrets.

This was my favorite part of the movie if you want to check it out! I've always wanted to do this with someone and it being spontaneous!

Mamma Mia! (2008)

IMDB: "Mamma Mia!"
This is one of my guilty pleasure movie. I've grown up with ABBA, so I felt like I sort of had to watch it when it came out. And just because of the music and the location where the movie is filmed (Skopelos and Skihatos) this is a movie I watch whenever its on. The movie isn't great and certainly not the acting, but it's ok for one of those days you don't want to use your brain.

Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is getting married and she wants to know who her father is. Problem is that it can be 1 of 3 guys: Bill (Stellan Skarsgård), Sam (Pierce Brosnan) or Harry (Colin Firth). So you can easily say that Donna (Meryl Streep) is surprised and confused when she finds out that all of them are on "her island" where she runs her exotic (but broken) hotel.

Sophie tries to persuade Bill, Sam and Harry not to find her mother because it's sort of a secret that they're there.
And in 2014 I saw "Mamma Mia!" on Broadway in New York and I absolutely loved it!!

Home Alone (1990)

IMDB: "Home Alone"
If there's something I love, it's Christmas movies! And the best one is this classic: "HOME ALONE"! This is a MUST in December and I laugh just as hard every time I see it! I would consider people who don't like this movie crazy.

This is Kevin. He is the most brilliant and inventive kid ever.

Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) has a big family and 'tis Christmas time at the McCallisters! They're going to Paris to celebrate, so the day before they're packing, running, screaming and getting ready for their big trip. Kevin is the youngest and gets in a fight with his mom so he has to sleep in the addic. There's a storm that night, so the power goes out and the alarm clock goes black. The house is awakened by the doorbell and they realize that they "SLEPPED IN!!"! So they leave in a rush and guess who they forgot  in the addic...

And of course, we gotta have two villians!! And this is where Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) comes in! They plan to break in and steal all their valuables. Good luck trying to rob Kevins house when he's home alone! Not to spoil anything, but.. it's going to hurt!

The soundtrack is fantastic! The Main Theme is my favorite Christmas song.

Bachelor Party (1984)

IMDB: "Bachelor Party"
This is (one of) my childhood feel-good movies! This is where I discovered Tom Hanks and his brilliant acting skills. I've watched this movie a 1000 times and I still laugh as hard as I did the first time! It's such an 80's movie and it's AWESOME!

Rick Gasco (Hanks) is the ultimate bachelor and his pals nightmare is now becoming real: HE'S GETTING MARRIED!! So before Rick is "doomed for life" the guys plan the craziest bachelor party with girls, bands, condom-balloons, adult movies, booze, drugs and even a donkey. That's a recipe for disaster.. Or.. a really, really good party! Whilst Debbie (Tawny Kitaen), his fiance has a more.. fancy bachelorette party. But there's a mix-up with the "party favours" that the guys ordered, so Debbie and her girls plan to surprise the guys. That's always a wise decision, right? Girls crashing the bachelor party.. Nothing can go wrong!

This is some of the guys from the bachelor party.
Stan Gassko (William Tepper), Rick Gassko (Tom Hanks), Rudy (Barry Diamond) and Ryko (Michael Dudikoff)
I remember having a HUGE crush on Ryko. He's so stupid, cute and wild. Gotta love it!
Rick and Jay (Adrian Zmed) goofing off how they do best!
Jay is the best man putting this gathering together.
The girls: Tina Gassko (Wendie Jo Sperber), Debbie (Tawny Kitaen), Phoebe (Martina Finch),
Mrs. Thompson (Barbara Stuart), Ilene (Deborah Harmon) and Bobbi (Tracy Smith).

I can't express how much I love this movie! The guys in this movie are so crazy that it's over the top, but it's a good over the top! All the misunderstandings, the random entertainment and the funny quotes like: "Hi, Come on in! Drugs to the left, hookers to the right!"

Don Jon (2013)

IMDB: "Don Jon"
I think this is a movie that you either "hate" or love. For me, this is straight-up love. "Don Jon" is one of my favorite movies through history. The brilliant Joseph Gordon-Levitt is behind this masterpiece, and the the choices he made with editing, the music choices, the cast and the development through-out the movie is pure genius in my eyes!

Joseph behind the camera. I would trust this man any day after watching this movie.

"There's only a few thins I really care about in life.
My body. My pad. My ride. My family. My church. My boys. My girls. My porn."
Don Jon

Jon (Joseph) is a real "Don Juan". He takes care of himself, his family, goes to church, goes out with his boys and "scoring chicks" left and right. But if there's something he loves more than anything else, it's his porn.

He finds the perfect girl, Barbara (Scarlett Johansson) and everything is perfect. But.. even she can't stop him from watching his beloved ladies on the screen. What will make him get out of his routine?

Aladdin (1992)

IMDB: "Aladdin"
I have four Disney favorites that no new Disney or any movies can triumph over. It's "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty and the Beast", "The Lion King" and this exotic and magical fairytale "Aladdin"! There's not a chance for me to love Disney more than I do, and these four is what represents pure Disney magic in my eyes!

Aladdin is a street rat and he does his best to survive in the little town of Agrabah with his little furry companion Abu. In the palace lives the Sultan, his beautiful daughter Jasmine and his "trustworthy" Grand Vizier, Jafar. Princess Jasmine is sick of staying behind the walls of the palace and she escapes one day and walks around at the market, where she meets the charming and handsome Aladdin! Jafar doesn't like that, because he's suppose to marry Jasmine so that he can take over. So he comes up with a plan to get Aladdin out of the way. But thanks to little Abu, his plans goes up in sand..

"This is it? This is what we came all the way down here to......"
Thanks for the laughs, Genie.

Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995)

IMDB: "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls"

It's a rare thing when the sequel is just as good as the first one! Ace Ventura IS Ace Ventura and he will stay awesome forever. If I dare say (and I don't think a lot of people would disagree), this is Jim Carreys best (and most memorable) character and he'll remain a legend in movie history!

"HOLY MONKEY!"
Ace has experienced something traumatizing and has put himself in a Monastery away from every one and every thing. He still loves animals, so even when he's put on a case of finding a white bat for a village that finds it holy, he says yes, even though he doesn't want to. He meets up with the tribe and starts his investigation for the bat. Will he find it and return it to the people? Well, you should watch it and see if he does!

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)

IMDB: "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective"

This movie is where Jim Carrey really set himself on the map! He's one of the funniest men in history and is known for it! No doubt, this is one of my favorite comedian films of all time! I can watch this a thousand times and never get sick of it! I can guarantee laughter!

Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey) is a very special guy. I don't think there's another person in the world who loves animals more than this guy! And a dolphin who is the mascot of a football team is kidnapped and Ace, of course, takes it in his hands to find it. Because: He's the best! The police laughs at him, because they see him as a joke. But things are a little bit more complicated than that.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

IMDB: "Guardians of the Galaxy"
On IMDBs Top 250 Movies
People have been looking forward to this film forever it feels, and I understand that.. I try to not have any hopes for any type of movie, but it seemed really cool from what I've seen.. And as a fan of Marvel (I mean, they have a lot of awesome movies!) I gotta say that this film did not hold up to my standards. On the poster it says it's from the creators of "The Avengers" and for me, if you put that as a comparison, you're aiming high enough.

I know I sound really disappointed, but it's not that bad. It was funny, cool and stuff, but there was just too much stories braided into each other. I really liked Chris Pratt, he's an up and coming star. And Vin Diesel as Groot, that was pretty awesome! I don't know the comics of these "heroes", but I hope, for the comic-fans that they did them justice. I just wish I liked it better..

Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Peter (Chris Pratt), Rocket (Bradley Cooper),
Drax (Dave Bautista) and Groot (Vin Diesel).
Peter (Pratt) is abducted right after his mother dies, and 20 years later we see him as he finds a ball that is actually a really powerful weapon. The bad guy, Ronan (Lee Pace) wants this really bad, so he puts a bounty on Peter, so everyone is after him. This is where we meet Gamora (Saldana), Rocket (Cooper), Groot (Diesel) and Drax (Bautista)! All of them wants to kill everyone, but they stick together after being captured. And now they gotta stay together to prevent Ronan getting that ball because that would be catastrophic! Well, they are Guardians of the Galaxy, right? They oughta do something..

The Collector (Benicio Del Toro)
Uhm.. well hello there! Chris Pratt.. I didn't even know..!

50 First Dates (2004)

IMDB: "50 First Dates"
I don't like Adam Sandler, he's too much for me.. But with Drew Barrymore, he works! I watched this because I knew it was filmed on Hawaii (I've even been where they filmed several of the scenes). This movie is sweet, funny and beautiful! One of my absolute favorites!

"Forgetful Lucy, cracked her head like Gary Busy.."
Henry (Sandler) is a ladies man and has fun with a lot of the women tourists on the island. It's perfect, because they leave short after. But one day he sits down at the Hukilau Cafe and he sees this cute girl, Lucy (Barrymore), he sits down, they talk, they flirt, they really hit it off. So they arrange for another breakfast the next day. He shows up, sees her again, says hello and she has never met him before! What the..?! Turns out, she was in an accident a year back and has lost her memory since that day. But she's so fantastic, he doesn't want to hit it and quit it. No, he's already lost and he needs for her to get lost in him too. Every day!

"There's nothing like a first kiss.."

Back to the Future trilogy

Pictures borrowed here, here and here.
IMDB: "Back to the Future", "Back to the Future II", "Back to the Future III"
On IMDBs Top 250 Movies
This has got to be my favorite films of all time!! It's the answer I always give when someone asks me "What's your favorite movie?". They're brilliant, funny, exciting and pure genius! Number ones for ever!

Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is a normal guy, goes to school, has a girlfriend, wants a nice car and all that. He also has a "special" friend, Doc (Christopher Lloyd) who is an inventor (and a good one I might add). He actually invents a time machine out of a DeLorean! And there's stuff to be fixed in the past (and the future).

Doc, Marty McFly and his momma, Lorraine a couple of years after the epic trilogy!
I don't have enough words or cheerful screams to explain how much I love these movies! Robert Zemeckis really knows his stuff!

This is the actual date of when Marty goes forward i time!
There's a lot of people who messes around with this date, but this is a printscreen of the movie.

Lethal Weapon quadrilogy (1987, 1989, 1992 and 1998)

Pictures borrowed from here.
IMDB: "Lethal Weapon", "Leathal Weapon 2", "Leathal Weapon 3" and "Leathal Weapon 4"
I gather all these films in one post, because they all get the same ratings. They're classics, they're funny, packed with action and just plain cool.

Murtaugh (Danny Glover) and Riggs (Mel Gibson) are a lethal duo!
In the first film, Murtaugh who's a by-the-book-soon-to-be-retired cop gets a new partner, a crazy firecracker with a short fuse, Riggs. That's a good combination in any movie. There's a different villain in every sequel, but there's always the duo that takes care of them.

"You think I'm crazy? You call me crazy, you think I'm crazy? You wanna see crazy?"

"I'm too old for this shit.."
This is the only problem. Joe Pesci is the most idiotic, irritating, dumbest sidekick ever. During all four movies, all I could think of when I saw him was: "Ok.. ok.. ok.. ok.. Whatever.. SHUT UP!!!"
